The Team
Robert Wood
Robert Wood started out his professional career as a secondary school teacher (as it was then known). He taught for approximately 10 years whilst completing a Law Degree on a part-time basis.
In May 1980, Robert was admitted to practice as a Barrister and Solicitor and he commenced his own legal practice. He established the firm of Robert Wood and Associates, which has been giving legal advice to the local community ever since.
Robert is believed to be only the second Melbourne lawyer to commence his own practice upon admission to practise in the Supreme Court of Victoria. Robert was also admitted to practice in the High Court of Australia and thus is able to assist in Family Law matters in the Federal Magistrates Court and all other jurisdictions.
Robert believes that it is extremely important to help clients through the emotion of any given circumstances. While these issues may be emotional, Robert can look at the legal basis upon which litigation of any type is commenced. Together with his staff of leading Melbourne lawyers, he will assess the situation in a caring and sympathetic way to ensure that you feel as comfortable as possible in making the decisions which have to be made.
After in excess of thirty (30) years practice in the Boronia area, Robert is not only seeing clients for the first time but is now seeing those client’s children and even their grandchildren. This is seen as a recommendation not only as to the character of the firm but of the skills which he used to help people through difficult situations.
Amelia Leyden
Amelia is one of a new generation of Melbourne lawyers. She received her Bachelor of Law (Hons.) in 2008, was admitted to the legal practice in August 2009 and commenced working with Robert Wood and Associates shortly after. Prior to being admitted, Amelia had undertaken legal training through Melbourne University, Monash University, Victoria University, the University of Ottawa (Canada) and the Leo Cussen Institute.
During her time at Robert Wood and Associates, Amelia has practised considerably in Family Law, Wills and Estates, Criminal Law and Conveyancing, as well as in most other legal areas offered by the firm. Amelia has a focus on understanding client’s circumstances, ensuring the clients do not become overwhelmed with the legal process, and working with clients to achieve a fair and desirable result.
